Academic Coach - BBA (Marketing); B.Ed
Zach traveled to Nova Scotia from Calgary to begin his adventure into teaching world, receiving his Bachelor of Education from Saint Francis Xavier University.
Zach currently teaches at a school that focuses on working with a range of complex learners who have been diagnosed with learning and/or attention challenges. If you ever ask Zach about his current teaching position, you will most likely hear him say “I have found my family,” a sentiment that he also shares with his Kaizen team.
Zach brings a unique perspective to Kaizen. His experience and expertise comes from having a “walked the walk” framework. He has diagnosed ADHD and LD and as such, has a unique empathy and understanding of ‘the struggling student.’ It didn't hit him until later in life how much of an impact he could have on children going through the same trials as himself! On a very personal level, Zach deeply understands and can relate to the fear, anxiety and continued self doubt of, “Am I worth it?” He believes that students need strong mentors who can empathize, and connect while challenging their beliefs about how they learn. Zach also believes in the power of personal resilience, hard work and using strengths to challenge and ultimately overcome weaknesses. Kaizen’s mission of empowering students to take control of their learning is one that Zach wholeheartedly believes in!
When Zach is not in the classroom, he is swimming, biking and running his way to his way to his next triathlon race. He is a passionate coach of both junior and senior boys high athletic teams and loves witnessing his athletes strive for long term personal growth, fulfillment and success. Outside of training you can find him with his guitar, singing away or laughing and enjoying his “me” time with his young son Landen and beautiful wife Tayler.
